Liturgical Ministries

Did you know it takes around 80 dedicated individuals to make all of our weekend Masses run smoothly? Each Mass is a beautiful tapestry of ministry, and there’s a place in that tapestry for you! Altar Server

Open to anyone who has received their First Eucharist. Servers assist at Mass and other liturgies. Youth in 3rd grade or higher are invited to join. Training is provided with a commissioning ceremony. 

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion 

Distribute the Body of Christ to those gathered at Mass. Prerequisite: Must have received Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation; and be a Catholic in good standing. Training session provided with a commissioning ceremony. Also includes annual parish re-training and AOD Certification course. Open to those 16 years of age and older. Serve 2-3 times per month.

Communion to the Sick and Home-bound 

Parishioners distribute Holy Communion to the sick and home-bound. We also provide visitation to Catholic residents at The Village of East Harbor, including Communion Service or Mass on Tuesday mornings. Prerequisite: Must have received sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation; and be a Catholic in good standing. Must complete Protecting God’s Children Workshop. Background Check Required. 1 hour per week.

Lector

Lectors proclaim the Word of God at Mass and other liturgical gatherings. Prerequisite: Must have received sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation; and be a Catholic in good standing. Training session provided with a commissioning ceremony. Serve 1 to 2 times per month.

Sacristan

The Sacristan arrives at Church 30-45 minutes before Mass to setup and prepare for Mass. Assists the celebrant during Mass. After Mass, the Sacristan cleans, puts away all vessels, sacred books, and ensures the Church is secure before leaving. Prerequisite: Must have received Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation; and be a Catholic in good standing. Must complete Protecting God’s Children and Background Check. Serve at a Mass, 1 to 2 times per month.

Usher

Serve as a Minister of Hospitality at Masses and other liturgies. Welcome the community, assist with seating, take-up collections, and assist the Sacristan in any unforeseen circumstances that may arise during Mass. 1 ½-hours per Mass assignment.

WEEKEND GREETER

Serve as a Minister of Hospitality prior to weekend Masses. Welcome the community … smile and be pleasant! Arrive 20 minutes prior to Mass; Serve 2-4 times per month.
