Music Ministries
Looking to join a group of Catholic Musicians like yourself? We have several to choose from! To learn more about any of our groups, please contact Michele Maples at mmaples@iccatholic.org or call 586-725-3051 ext. 240.
PRESCHOOL MUSIC (Sept-May)
Preschoolers and younger children along with their parents are invited to join us on Monday evenings during Faith Formation Classes. Children will sing and move to music and play percussion instruments. This starting music class is perfect for families who want to support their “little musicians” and introduce them to music skills that will help them for the rest of their lives as they sing and make music to the Lord.
CHILDREN’S CHOIR (Sept-May)
Ages K-6th. Our children’s choir is learning pitch matching, rhythm and beat, form, music theory, how to read music from the hymnal, and the Mass parts. The choir is invited to sing at our weekend liturgies.
CANTOR (Ongoing)
High school students and older are welcome to lead Mass as a cantor. Special skills are required, but training is available! Meet 30 minutes prior to the start of Mass. Rehearsals are also available on Mondays or Wednesdays. We need cantors for both the 4:30pm and 8:00am Mass times. Schedule is flexible and music is known in advance.
BELL CHOIR (Sept-May)
Students 12 and older are welcome to join us on Wednesdays from 6:00-7pm in the Loft. We ring at 8am Mass on a regular basis. Schedule is known in advance. It is not a requirement to read music, although you will learn as you go.
ADULT CHOIR (Sept-May)
Middle school students and older are welcome to join us on Wednesdays from 7-8:15pm in the Loft. We sing at 10am Mass on a weekly basis and gather in the parish hall prior to Mass for warmups. Our schedule is known in advance for the year. It is not a requirement to read music, although you will learn as you go.
INSTRUMENTALISTS (Ongoing)
Do you play an instrument? Did you play in high school and look for opportunities to play again? We are looking for soloists and small ensemble players for Holy Days and special music.
